Turkey Chili

Writer's picture: MickeyMickey

I was feeling very southern today, I made some turkey chili and jalapeno corn bread (recipe posting tomorrow!). It was hearty, tasty and delicious. I also made some fries to go with it and made my husband a plate of chili cheese fries! We made chili cheese dogs with it the next day and it was perfect. I made this in the crockpot, but I'm sure you can warm it all up in a pot if you can't wait that long!

Ingredients:

1 lb Ground Turkey

2 cloves Garlic , minced

1/2 cup Yellow Onion , diced

1 15oz can Tomato Sauce

1 14.5oz can Diced Tomato

1 7oz can Diced Green Chiles

1 15oz can Kidney Beans, drained

1 15oz can Black Beans, drained

2 tbsp Chili Powder

2 tsp Cumin

1/2 tsp Black Pepper

1/2 tsp Salt

2 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Brown Sugar

Toppings:

Sour Cream

Cheese, shredded

Green Onion, sliced

Jalapeno, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Add the ground turkey, and onion to a medium size skillet. Cook over medium heat until the onion is soft and the turkey is completely cooked. Add the garlic and cook an additional minute.

  2. Remove from the skillet and add to the crockpot.

  3. Add in all the other ingredients, stir to combine. Cook over low heat for 4-6 hours.

  4. Serve hot with toppings of your choice!
