Chapaguri (Ram-don)

Have you seen the movie Parasite? If you have, then you've been wondering what this dish taste like. I tried to recreate it based on how it's supposed to be made, but of course I had to add my own spin on it. I thought it was a little bland, even though I used sesame oil and seasoning on the meat. I added a few things to my own plate to spice it up and I highly recommend it! Make this for dinner and turn on the movie to get the full experience!

Ingredients:

1 package of Neoguri, Korean spicy seafood instant ramen noodles

1 package of Chapagetti, Koream Jjajang instant ramen noodles

2 tsp Cooking oil

12 oz Beef Steak, such as sirloin, ribeye or New York strip, cut into 1” chunks

1/2 tsp Garlic Salt

1/2 tsp Onion Powder

1 tbsp Sesame Oil

1/4 tsp Black Pepper

1 tsp Unsalted Butter

Green Onions

Sesame Seeds

Optional Seasoning to punch it up (your own plate):

Sriracha

Fried Garlic Chili Oil

Pickled Jalapenos

Crushed Red Peppers

Instructions:

  1. Bring enough water to boil to cook 2 packages of Korean instant ramen. Heat a large skillet over high heat.

  2. Add both noodles and dehydrated vegetable mixture (no seasoning package yet!) into boiling water and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, add steak chunks into the preheated skillet and sprinkle garlic salt, onion powder, sesame oil and black pepper. Cook the steak and sear them evenly all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes.

  4. Now, add cooked noodles into the steak along with both seasoning packages and butter. Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of the ramen noodle water into the skillet and mix everything together, until everything is well combined, about 1 minute. Add more ramen noodle water as needed.

  5. Transfer to a serving bowl, sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Spice up your serving with extra seasoning and enjoy!
