Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Writer: MickeyMickey

The kids love making banana bread with me, we always have a ton of bananas and this is the best way to save the super ripe ones. No good reason to toss them! We added chocolate chips for an extra special treat and they loved it.

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cup All Purpose Flour

1 tsp Baking Powder

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1/2 tsp Salt

1/2 cup Melted Butter

1 cup Sugar

2 Eggs room temperature

3 Banana very ripe

1/3 cup Sour Cream

1 tsp ground Cinnamon

1 cup semi sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9X5 loaf pan with cooking spray and line with a parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until light and sugar is dissolved.

  4. Add in the eggs one at a time and mix well.

  5. Mash the bananas and add them to the eggs. Mix well until fully incorporated.

  6. Add in buttermilk and cinnamon. Mix well.

  7. Add the flour mixture to the eggs and banana mixture.

  8. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  9. Pour the batter into the loaf pan and smooth the top with the back of a spatula.

  10. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes to an hour, until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean.

  11. Let the bread cool down for 30 minutes before slicing.
