Chocolate Croissants

Writer's picture: MickeyMickey

These totally made me think of Emily in Paris! Petit Pain au Chocolat! These are delicious at any time of day. I had to keep them away from myself and the kids, we just kept wanting more.

Ingredients:

2 sheets frozen Puff Pastry, thawed

1 cup Dark Chocolate Chips (milk or semi-sweet would work)

2-3 tbsp Water

Sugar, divided

1 Egg, beaten

Flour for rolling

Instructions:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Unfold the defrosted pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface and cut each sheet into 6 squares for a total of 12 pieces.

  3. Divide chocolate evenly among the 12 pieces. Place chocolate chips at the edge of each pastry square. Roll tightly, completely encasing the chocolate inside. Seal the top edge of the pastry with a little bit of water.

  4. Place each pastry, seam side down on the baking sheet. Brush each pastry with your beaten egg wash and sprinkle lightly with sugar.

  5. Bake about 20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown. Let the pastries cool before serving, the chocolate gets really hot!
